Professional: The Way of the Artisan
Those words were written around 1645 and they are timeless. The Way of the craftsman is the common denominator linking together my professional life. Such a path does not require perfection, but simply attention to what is at hand. I have an archive of many client testimonials, compliments and references gifted to me because in each transaction I delivered the the best possible result, whether providing labor, software or compassion.
Philosophy, Continuing Improvement and Objectives
A long path rich in learning and experience adds the human element to my value; I am successful at establishing a rapport with almost all clients. Flexibility and foresight come easily to me. I am fit and healthy, handling all the rigors of acute hospital care safely and missing a total of only three days of work between 2004 and 2009. My personal beliefs lead me away from gossip and toward courtesy, making it easy to get along with my peers. I enjoy learning and have a constantly growing pile of certificates from workshops, classes and in-service sessions. I read voraciously and only a fraction of my knowledge is certified by academia.
The professional relationships I seek are those which support my ideals. I believe that all people are worthy of respect even when their behaviors are not; that compassion is easily given and does not need to be accepted to be worthwhile. I believe in the value of diversity and that of tolerance, and in fair treatment. I believe that a culture of intelligent curiosity and common sense is healthier than one of rigid protocol. Mostly, I believe that my vocation must nourish and support my happiness: my time is my most valuable attribute and I spend it accordingly.
My goal at this time is to apply my experience and communication skills to facilitate the connection of people with their own lives. Examples include helping a patient come to terms with his condition, helping an addict succeed with treatment, or teaching a youth the value of education. I welcome learning of opportunities whereby I might pursue this: d@darrellking.com.

Vocational Experience
There is something to be said for gathering a varied portfolio of experience. I live in a society where multiple careers are the norm, where experimentation is encouraged. I have found that what might seem an intimidating lack of security or stability is actually an exhilarating adventure filled with fascinating new discoveries. I thrive here.
